About Carol Stevens
Carol Stevens (M.Clin.Psych.) holds an Honours Degree in Psychology from the University of NSW and a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Macquarie University. She is endorsed to practice as a Clinical Psychologist by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) and is a member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (MACPA).
Carol’s therapeutic style is warm, collaborative and solutions focused. Working together a treatment that best fits the individual needs of the client is developed using a combination of evidence-based interventions including:

Carol’s professional experiences have been culturally diverse and inclusive. Her psychology practice is LGBTQIA+ safe.
What is a Clinical Psychologist?
A Clinical Psychologist undertakes one of the highest levels of training in the mental health field. They undertake a minimum of 6 years full-time university training and are required to have ongoing professional development.

what does treatment involve?
Working together a thorough assessment is done and a treatment that best fits the individual needs of the client developed. The aims of therapy are to:
- gain insight into the nature and origins of current difficulties
- identify and challenge the thoughts, beliefs and behaviours that cause distress
- develop effective coping skills
- explore interactional styles and enhance satisfying interpersonal relationships
- gain insight into personal strengths, values and attain personal and life goals
How long are sessions?
The initial assessment session is generally 80-90 minutes. Subsequent sessions are 50 min. or longer as indicated.
Referrral Fees and Rebates
If referred under a GP Mental Health Care Plan Medicare will pay a rebate for each session up to 10 sessions per calendar year. Private health insurance offer rebates for people with ‘Extras’ cover. You are advised to check this with your health fund. Please note if you receive a Medicare rebate you cannot claim from your private health fund as well.
Please contact for information on service fees. Fees are payable on the day of consultation by bank transfer. Cancellations require 24 hours notice or a 50% cancellation fee may apply.
